To help distinguish the 2020 VW Golf GTI from the base model are branded red crossbar on the grille, extending now to the end of the headlights, and the front bumper with a massive black air intake area, which integrates fog lights. Differences behind are a spoiler on the trunk lid, a diffuser and two real round exhaust pipes. The profile of this Golf is distinguished not due to the black inserts on the sills, but because of a special pattern of wheels (size from 17 to 19 inches). The IQ.Light matrix headlamp has 22 diodes in each of the front headlights.

Some elements of the interior equipment refer to the iconic heritage of the model. For example, the steering wheel with three double spokes in chrome and seats (with developed side support and integrated headrests), decorated with “tartan” and red inserts.

Others, on the contrary, are designed to be as modern as possible. This is a 10.25-inch dashboard display (with GTI menu design), and 10-inch tablet optional multimedia system Discovery Pro (with integrated wireless Apple Car and Android Auto, eSIM and voice control), and projection display, and touch buttons climate control. Also optional is the Travel Assist system package, which can partially act as autopilot on highways and in traffic jams (if the car is equipped with a “robot”).
