VW Passat B9 Owner's Manual

The Passat B9 is an updated 4-door model in a station wagon body from the German manufacturer, a representative of a new generation. The brand has abandoned the sedan model. The car has grown in size and has available diesel engines.

The exterior features an aerodynamic profile and sleek rear lines. The front headlights have a tapered shape. The radiator grille has also been reduced and the air intake slightly enlarged. A bright accent in the design is the LED strip that connects the rear lights.

The price of the model is 49500 US dollars.

Competitors

The main competitors of the Passat B9 are the Mercedes C-Class Estate, Audi A4 Avant and BMW 3Series. The car differs from the alternative models with a spacious interior, a large luggage compartment and a moderate price.

Technical characteristics

The additional body centimetres resulted in a more spacious interior and a luggage compartment with a volume of up to 690 litres.

The car is equipped with a wide range of engines. The range includes two 2 litre turbocharged petrol power units with a displacement of 265 hp and 204 hp.

For fans of diesel engines, there are three 2 litre units with power from 122 to 193 horsepower.

The engines are mated to a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch robotic transmission.

The car is available with a 150-horsepower hybrid engine. In addition, the manufacturers offer two plug-in hybrid variants that combine a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an 18.5 kWh battery. This setup produces 204 and 272 hp. The range is up to 1000 km.

The basic equipment includes 17-inch wheels.

VW Passat B9 dimensions

The model is based on the upgraded MQB platform. As a result, the car has grown in size:
– length – 4917 mm;
– width – 1852 mm;
– height – 1482 mm;
– wheelbase – 2841 mm.

Technologies and safety systems

The new model impresses with its refined interior. Plastic elements are used for decoration. The dashboard is illuminated, which emphasises the 12.9-inch multimedia screen and the 10.25-inch digital instrument panel.

Controlling the modes via the touchscreen was somewhat inconvenient. The front seats are electrically adjustable, heated and ventilated.

Safety systems

The list of safety systems includes a parking assistant, adaptive cruise control, ABS, traction control. Lane keeping assist and control, as well as keyless entry are available.
