VW Passat B5 Owner's Manual

VW Passat B5 is a representative of the fifth generation of sedan cars from the German manufacturer. The model has received many updates and differs significantly from its predecessor B4.

The car is based on the Audi platform. The main advantages include a solid build quality, a wide range of engines and configurations. The cost of the car has become the main disadvantage of the model. Owners also point out the restraint in the decoration.

Trim Levels

The car is available in four trim levels: Base, Comfortline, Trendline, Highline.

Exterior and interior design

In 2002, the model underwent a facelift. The changes were so noticeable. That the manufacturers gave a separate code B5.5 for the updated car.

The changes affected the front end. There are chrome stripes on the bumper. The radiator grille grew in size. Stylish dual headlights add sophistication to the exterior. Side marker lights are now located at the bumper level.
There are newly designed lights behind.

The interior has undergone minimal changes. The instrument panel has a new design and graphics. Chrome rings add modernity to the overall look.

Depending on the configuration, the model’s equipment differs. In the improved versions, the interior features wooden trims or polished aluminum elements for sports models. A three-spoke steering wheel is also available, which adds sporty character and dynamism. Upgraded versions have an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

A full electric package is available as an option, as well as comfortable seats with multi-range position adjustment.

Technical characteristics

The fifth-generation model has a wide range of engines and other equipment. Charged models received a 6-cylinder engine with a displacement of 2.8 liters and a power of 193 horsepower. The VR5 is a five-cylinder 2.3-liter engine that is compact and lightweight due to the staggered cylinder arrangement.

The lineup also includes gasoline engines with a displacement of 1.6 liters and a power of 101 hp, 1.8 liters with a power of 125 horsepower. The turbocharged engine with a displacement of 1.8 liters produces 150 horsepower.

The standard version is equipped with ABS, traction control, stability control, disc brakes, and daytime running lights.
