VW Passat B6 Owner's Manual
VW Passat B6 is a front-wheel drive 5-seater car after facelift, a representative of the sixth generation. It is available in sedan and wagon body styles.
The design has not changed much, and the advantages include a wide range of powerful powertrains, a spacious interior and high-quality interior materials. The car is available with all-wheel drive and balanced steering. The disadvantages include insufficient noise insulation.
The main competitors of the popular sedan are Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, Mazda 6, and Toyota Camry.
Previously, the trims were distinguished by the characteristics of the power units. In 2008, the approach was changed and the models were renamed accordingly: Comfort line, Trendline, Highline, Blue Motion, R36, Sportline and R-Line Edition.
Interior design
The bumper of the car has a chrome finish for the base version.
High-quality materials are used in the car’s interior, which created a premium atmosphere. The interior is quite spacious even for rear-row passengers.
The driver’s seat is adjustable to 6 positions, and the lumbar support can also be adjusted. A three-spoke steering wheel is available for Sportline trim levels, and the gearshift knob is leather-covered.
Air conditioning is available as standard, as well as climate control for the higher trims. A CD player and audio system are provided in the cabin.
Technical characteristics
The car has a wide range of engines. The engine location was transverse, as 8-cylinder power units were abandoned. The lineup included 1.6-liter and 1.4-liter engines with 102 and 122 horsepower, respectively. The more powerful versions of the engines have a displacement of 1.8 liters and 2 liters, producing 152 and 200 horsepower.
Models with turbodiesel engines with a displacement of 1.9 liters and 2 liters are available. The power of such units was 105, 140 and 170 horsepower. Charged versions are also available, which are equipped with a 3.2-liter 6-cylinder V-shaped engine with 250 horsepower.
The most powerful model was introduced in 2006 with a VR6 gasoline engine with 300 horsepower.
The powertrains are mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, as well as a DSG robotic dual-clutch transmission.
Dimensions
Traditionally, the model has grown in size. The parameters of the car are:
– length – 4765 – 4774 mm;
– width – 1472 mm;
– height – 1472 mm – 1517 mm.
Safety and comfort systems
