2021 VW Golf GTI Owner's Manual

As before, there are MacPherson struts in the front and independent multilever suspension in the rear. With the change of generation the front springs (rigidity increased by 5%) and shock absorber struts and front wishbone mountings have been finalized. Aluminum subframe saved three pounds of weight. The mountings in the rear suspension were also revised, as well as the rear shock absorber struts, spring stiffness was increased by 15%. The ground clearance has been reduced by 15 mm compared to the basic model.
For the behavior of the 2021 VW Golf GTI the Vehicle Dynamic Management system is responsible. It coordinates the work of ESP, the front differential with electronic locking, XDS+ system (brakes the inner wheel towards the turn for better control), as well as optional adaptive shock absorbers DCC (provide the driver with the choice between Comfort, Eco, Sport and Individual modes). The GTI also includes variable-ratio steering as standard equipment. All of these systems are designed to reduce the understeer of the front-wheel-drive Golf to a minimum.
