The Beetle is noticeably roomier than the other compact convertibles and high-style coupes with which it predominantly competes: the Fiat 500 and Mini Cooper. Two good-quality engines are worth noting. The turbocharged 1.8-liter engine is powerful and smooth, guaranteeing decent fuel economy. The more powerful version in the Beetle R-Line has more punch and sounds posh. The Beetle still provides plenty of room for taller drivers, and the front seats are quite comfortable for most people. The rear seats have a decent amount of headroom, too.
