The Beetle is noticeably roomier than the other compact convertibles and high-style coupes with which it predominantly competes: the Fiat 500 and Mini Cooper. Two good-quality engines are worth noting. The turbocharged 1.8-liter engine is powerful and smooth, guaranteeing decent fuel economy. The more powerful version in the Beetle R-Line has more punch and sounds posh. The Beetle still provides plenty of room for taller drivers, and the front seats are quite comfortable for most people.
