The R division of the Volkswagen brand is responsible for creating the most powerful versions in the lineup. The Golf R is no exception: its 2.0-liter gasoline EA888 evo4 TSI is boosted to 320 hp and 420 Nm of torque (the latter achieved between 2100-5350 rpm). The 4Motion R-Performance Torque Vectoring system distributes torque not only between the axles, but also between the rear wheels (each of them has its own clutch), and each of the rear wheels can receive up to 100% of the torque allocated to the rear axle.

Golf R can be equipped with a six-speed “manual” (but such cars are sold only in the U.S. and Canada), and robotized gearbox with two clutches DSG (seven steps).acceleration to 100 km / h in the car with a “robot” takes 4.7 seconds, the maximum speed is limited to 250 km/h forcibly.
